#827 Maple Fantasy

#827 is my first Wishbass, a Fantasy model and my first refin.  Having become aware of Wishbasses this was the bass that I bought to discover what they were all about.  Overall I was surprised by the bass.  It was playable out of the box but after I’d picked up all the packing peanuts there were a few things that I couldn’t resist refining and that’s where it all began.

The bass has a curly maple top, an African mahogany back, a 5 piece walnut, purpleheart and maple neck, finished off with  an Ipe fingerboard.

I have fitted a varitone with a stacked volume and tone control on a wooden control cavity cover. These days this bass is sporting an ebony bridge, but still has the Corian nut, which has been sprayed black.  The fingerboard was first sanded and then polished using micro-mesh for a pleasant and glossy result.  I’ve used a little fingerboard oil on it to finish things off.
