2013 was the 50th anniversary for the iconic Gibson Thunderbird.

Here is my 50th Anniversary ‘Bird.  This bass wears a Bullion Gold finish in high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.  The pick guard has a gold T-Bird logo and “50th Anniversary 1963-2013” stamped on it.

The neck and body core are made from multi-ply mahogany tone wood blank with two solid mahogany body wings.  A 20-fret fingerboard made from Grade-A rosewood is inlaid with pearloid dot position markers.

Strings are anchored by a three-point Thunderbird bridge with individually adjustable saddles, and high-quality Grover tuners at the headstock—all gold-plated to match the commemorative look of the 50th Anniversary Thunderbird Bass. 

Pickups are contemporary Thunderbird Bass pickups with ceramic magnets.
